Ethernet Transient Grapher Rev 0
(Aug 2008) Status: Complete

This was a one off software tool I wrote for a customer to measure network saturation on an Ethernet network. Ethernet networks are packet switched. Nodes are either transmitting at full bandwidth or not. The more nodes that are using the network, the more occupancy the network has. This program graphs this occupancy as a single dimensional presentation. Below is a sample graph. Both axises are time. The x-axis is time in milli seconds. The graph wraps the trace up the y-axis. The different colours are participate nodes. At a glance, saturation can be ascertained.

A very powerful tool, but never found another use. However, the job it performed for my customer was an important one. This software runs on Linux operating systems.
